CRYPTOCard launches CRYPTO-Server X Authentication Solution for Mac OSX
CRYPTO-Server X Makes It Simple To Positively Authenticate All Mac OS X
Panther Users
MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO, January 6, 2004 - CRYPTOCard,
(www.cryptocard.com) an innovative leader in authentication technology,
today announced the launch of CRYPTO-Server X, the authentication solution
designed specifically for Mac OS X version 10.3 Panther. CRYPTO-Server X
makes it simple to positively identify all Mac users attempting to access a
VPN or Web-based system by coupling something in the users possession (a
multi-function smart card, hardware token, or software token), with
something the user knows (their PIN). CRYPTO-Server X generates a one-time
password for every log-on attempt, making stolen credentials useless to
hackers.
CRYPTO-Server X's familiar ATM-style protocol eliminates the user
resistance often encountered when organizations attempt to implement an
additional layer of security, while the solutions CRYPTO-Admin
authentication server generates a unique password for every log-on attempt,
so that users no longer have to memorize complicated credentials
significantly reducing the help-desk costs associated with resetting
forgotten passwords, and the obvious security risk resulting from users
writing down their credentials.
CRYPTO-Admin makes it easy for organizations to create a token-deployment
database by simply importing existing company directories, while the
solutions CRYPTO-Deploy component makes it equally simple for
administrators to instantly distribute software tokens from any computer,
to any user. CRYPTO-Server X's versatile software tokens can reside on a
users desktop, laptop, or multi-function smart card, while the back-end is
hosted on a Panther Server.
An organization cannot guarantee system security if it cannot authenticate
each individual user and CRYPTO-Server X makes this simple, explained
Malcolm MacTaggart, President & CEO, CRYPTOCard Corporation. Users have
traditionally been drawn to the intuitive, state-of-the-art functionality
of the Mac operating system, and CRYPTOCards collaboration with Apple
underscores its commitment to provide Mac users with an authentication
solution that, much like Mac OS X Panther itself, is extremely cost
effective and user friendly.
Panther Server includes powerful open source solutions and innovative,
easy-to-use server management capabilities making it an ideal solution for
business and education customers, said Ron Okamoto, Apples vice president
of Worldwide Developer Relations. CRYPTO-Server X makes it easy to
authenticate Mac users attempting to access a VPN or Web-based system.
